The Lutheran Church is.....

An expression of the Christian faith which emphasizes the Good News of God's love made real in Jesus Christ who died, rose, and lives for all people."

The Lutheran Church is the oldest and largest Protestant church in the world.  Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church was established in  Winchester in 1753.  It was the first congregation in the United Lutheran Church in America to support a Lutheran missionary in Japan.  Today, we support foreign mission partners in Japan and Africa and the church wide ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America(ELCA) and the Virginia Synod.  Proclamation of the Word of God and celebration of the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion are central to our communcal life of faith.

And Jesus came and said to them, "all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you: and low, I am with you always, to the close of the age."(Matthew 28:18-20)
